Welcome to all SPORTSMAN from anywhere.

General note to anyone viewing this board that some of the material in this forum may contain text or photos about hunting and fishing that may bother or offend some people or young children.  To view this content, you do so at your own choosing.  Understand that hunting and fishing in WV is a way of life for a lot of WVians.  We as hunters and fisherman understand this.

This board has been created for anyone who shares an interest in hunting and fishing, especially and mainly hunting and fishing in West Virginia.

Over the months and years of being on the Internet I found that all the popular hunting forum sites had some WV people on them. The problem I saw was that discussions about WV hunting and fishing was far and few from the other topics. It appeared that if you were from WV and wanted to talk about WV hunting, well you were ignored. Maybe not intentionally, but it happened. Some forums welcomed you openly, but on others I felt like I wasn't welcomed. That I was an outsider and I had nothing to offer. That is why I created the WV Hunting Forum in the early spring of 2005.  I wanted a place for everyone in WV to come and talk about WV hunting and fishing. Our style of hunting is unique compared to hunting out in the midwest or deep south or the extreme north (like Canada).  Then in late October early November of 2006, after almost 2 years of operating the WV Hunting Forum, an anonymous member created this website, wvsportsman.net and donated it to the WV Hunting Forum.

I hope this will be a good site for someone to gather information about hunting and fishing and the regulations in West Virginia.

Please take time to read and post to any of the subjects you are interested in, but before you can read or post you will have to register.

On the West Virginia Hunting Forum you will find discussions about anything to do with hunting or fishing, though fishing during the fall and early winter takes a back seat to hunting! You will find debates of hot issues, but we do not allow the debates to get out of hand with name calling, threats or vulgar language. This type of behavior will NOT BE TOLERATED here.

Please be sure to read the rules for the forum so you understand that we are trying to maintain a healthy environment for discussions. We also have children and women on here so everyone should respect each other watch the content of their posts.

We as hunters are a family, yes family does argue, but they still stick together. We as hunters/sportsman should protect our sport/hobby and not become divided due to disagreements over certain issues.

NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING OF PRODUCTS ALLOWED! These can only be allowed by contacting the staff and getting prior approval.  Reviews of products are permitted and there is a specific board for that.

However, we strongly recommend that our "regular" members discuss products they have used and how they like them.

Due to some problems in the past, we can't allow taxidermists to advertise on the forum unless you have a WV license.

To clarify a little on a couple of the rules:

THIS IS NEW:  The using of asteriks and other symbols to get around the curse filters is against the rules as well.  We do have filters that will put asteriks in, but it is recommended that if you see this that you change your wording or you will receive a warning, and only one warning.

The penalty for violating the above rule is as follows:

a. Anyone found (by either the owner, administrator or moderator) to be in violation of the above rule, will receive a warning from the staff of the violation.  Only one warning will be issued.

b. Anyone continuing to comment violations after a warning has been issued will immediately be banned by the owner or administrators without warning.

c. Anyone that has been banned (either temporarily or permanently) and found to be utilizing the board for any reason under a different name or ISP will be banned for life.

d. Anyone temporarily banned and allowed use priviledges once again and having any other infraction will be banned for life at the discretion of the admins. or owner.

b. Anyone that has been banned (either temporarily or permanently) and found to be utilizing the board for any reason under a different name or ISP will be banned for life.

c. Anyone temporarily banned and allowed use priviledges once again and having any other infraction will be banned for life at the discretion of the admins. or owner.
